Q: How do I avoid buying a sham car?
When buying a vehicle from a private seller or from an unscrupulous dealer even the most experienced car buyer can be caught off guard. Some shady practices reported recently by ABC News include:
- Changing the odometer;
- Altering parts to make the car look higher spec than what it really is; and
- Claiming that a car has features such as airbags even though they are not working and not connected properly.
